No, us automakers saw to it they weren't.

One has to wonder how many great designs have been killed by the big 3 over the years. Think back to the Tucker, Studebaker come to mind. Before they had so many laws there were inventions that crossed the lines like car tractor combinations.

Did a little research on them. Mahindra apparently used to build CJ's for Jeep overseas. This is based on that but with a diesel motor. The axles are Dana 44s and they have a five speed manual. The new ones have 5.38 gears which is awesome, but the early ones only had 3.73s, so if you are buying a used one pay attention. I seem a couple guys claim the motor should be good for 400K but haven't actually seen any reports of anyone having those kind of miles on them. They do appear to be built to outlast the high priced disposable side by sides everyone is such a fan of these days though.

I'm gonna see if I can do a series of cash gigs and come up with one....off the books, lol. I like the diesel motor idea, and this rig is somewhere between a side by side and my S-10 in weight.....imagine this rig with a set of camoplast tracks on it.

It would be awesome if that motor could be used to replace some other brands. I have an older Toyota that came with a 3.0. They have a trait of blowing head gaskets regular.

I think you would have to have the transmission and rear end to go with that motor.
