I love 11-48's! Mine is in a 28 gauge and is my turkey gun.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Very nice.Looks like the old Sportsman-48 20 gauge I have. Not sure whats the difference between the Sportsman 48 and the 11-48.Mine will only hold three shells.

Very nice firearm. To me the real value is your uncle really trusts you to take care of the piece and pass it down for the next generations. Kudos to you!

very nice , now it is time to go 16ga shell shopping

used to see a few boxes of slugs once a year but maybe because all the 20 and 12 were missing from the shelf I started seeing some 16 ga ammo around

My grandfather passed his 11-48 12 ga to me when I was 10. I still shoot it today I am 64. As an adult I managed to collect the entire 11-48 series including the 410 which I didn't know even existed. My first new shotgun was at 12 an 1100 12. I still use it. If I can pick up the 12 and 20 magnum I will have that complete set. The 410 was the hardest and most expensive of those. Awesome gift and I know like mine it has a lot of sentimental value. I look forward to passing mine down.

Very nice! I always figured a 16 would suite me because I wanted a 20 ga for quail and a 12 for pheasant (especially if it was windy).

My first gun was a 16ga bolt action Mossberg. I still have it, although I have not shot it in decades. It got me a lot of game growing up. I always liked the 16ga. I even have an old Lee load all for reloading somewhere around.

I have my fathers old Remington 16 gauge as well.

It kicks like a mule.

Nice uncle! Congratulations!
