krumui OP trapper K Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 585 East Central Illinois	Back in the 1970's and 80's Pete Askins, an employee of Woodstream was asked to develop a soft catch trap to be used in some states where foothold traps had been outlawed. A lot of different types of traps were tested to develop the best final product. Many different special trap parts were needed to be made for the testing. I am including a bunch of different parts for a package of parts. Some are new and some are used. Most are associated with the jaws. Included in this package. 1. #1 1/2 jaws with an added plastic strip 2. #1 1/2 jaws with 3 screws 3. #1 1/2 jaws, plain with holes drilled 4. #2 Jaws that were used in the field 5. # 1 1/2 Metal strips used to hold down the plastic pads on the jaws 6. # 2 -Metal strips used to hold down the plastic pads on the jaws 7. #1 1/2 Metals strips similar to #5 but different 8. Various rubber pads 9. Various nuts and hardware for jaw attachments 10. I will include a Victor #1 1/2 Prototype trap that is not complete but used some of these parts. These are all parts obtained from Pete Askins who developed the Soft Catch trap. I will include several of each item. I will include one of Pete's name tags and a Woodstream tag. The entire package is $45 which includes shipping. IF YOU WOULD LIKE A NICE PROTOTYPE I HAVE THESE 1. Victor #1 1/2 Coil Soft Catch This is a new trap which has a black coating which was done at the factory. The thinking was to dye the trap black so that the trapper would not have to do that. That idea never happed. This trap will be $45 shipped 2. Victor #3 Coil Spring with offset jaws. The jaws are hooked in from the outside giving it a larger jaw spread. It has springs that are 9 coiled. These were probably the only 9 coiled springs ever used on a #3 coil spring trap. Pete said he personally wound these 9 coil springs.
