Sorry if this been up before.

Is it unwise to use glands from a big mink buck?
Will smaller mink bucks think its smell trouble and leave?

Do you think there is a difference how female and male glands attract?

Thanks for your thoughts.

No I don't personally think so, Ive used a lot of glands from a lot of different animals.. I don't know how you intend to process or use the glands but I would not worry about that at all..

Time of year and age all play a part in how interested and how curious each mink is when they come upon a same specie glandular odor. Just keep in mind that all gland bearing animals will inspect and evaluate odors that they encounter. Gland and urine are an animals built in calling and marking odors.

Im really a beginner so this is my first attemp of making a lure.
The big plan is just to crush the glands in a jar and mix with an odorless oil.
Soak up the oil with one of those things cotton things women use during a certain period of the month (tampon?) and put it in a cagetrap.

Thanks, that how to say it - how will a smaller mink evaluate the odor of mink buck.
Only allowed to use cagetraps, so I need a reason for the animal to enter the trap.

I am no mink trapper. Never trapped where there good numbers for any length of time. I have bought glands from other trappers. IMO they are attractive to cats and coyotes Even coons. I think rat glands are a notch or two better for those creatures. i buy them too. Having bought them I am sure there were big mink glands in the container. The critters I mention still like them. A lot. The guys I know that are mink trappers use a LOT of blind sets if they are to be believed. And I do.

Perhaps, again I am no mink trapper, you need cages with a door on each end. Camoed with whatever is lying around to make a tunnel.
