In 7th or 8th grade I got picked up by the Truant Officer one morning while on my way to hunt squirrels. He took me and my .22 rifle to school. My mom had to come pick me up.
In high school a lot of us would go hunting after school. Depending on the seasons, we'd have shotguns or rifles in our car trunks or displayed in racks in the rear windows or our pickup trucks. Some mornings there'd be a dozen guys standing around checking out a new gun someone had just got.
That same scenario today would get the school put on lock down, the swat team called and all involved arrested.
The liberals aren't winning...they've won. It's just a mop-up operation at this point.
The America we knew is gone boys.
Eh...wot?

The America we knew is gone boys. I've got a very similar story I've told before about guys standing in the parking lot looking at shotguns. The high school principle walked by when we were doing that and simply said "You guys know better than that, put those away." We did as told, end of story. Wouldn't happen today!

All the above and I don't think I would do well in school of these times now.
Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime

I remember the week of opening day of Deer Season none of the hunters showed up the first three days. Thursday and Friday were vacation days for Thanksgiving. I also remember playing hookie opening day of Trout season and ran into the Principal fishing too. He never said a word and I cleaned his fish and he gave me a ride home. That was 8th grade.
God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Schools around here were always closed the first day of Buck Season which was a Monday until they changed it to a Saturday several years ago.

Metal shop class one of our projects we had to make was a hunting knife still have it one of our projects for the more advanced classes was making a cannon. When done they took them out back of the school and fired them.

I remember a kid in our high school shop class who made a fancy rollover cheek piece out of cherry wood for his Enfield rifle that he had a gunsmith redo for him. When it was finished, it was a gorgeous rifle.
After it was all done in shop class, the principal told him to put it in his locker for other students to see. The next day in morning announcements, the principal told the student body to check with the guy who made the rifle to see what could be accomplished when you set your mind to do something.
Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.
