I’d check out a chiropractor before any surgery they have kept me away the knife my whole life. They managed to free up my neck after years of being stoved up I’ve always felt better leaving their office then when I went in.

I’ve got L4 and L5 in my back giving me problems went to neurosurgeon yesterday and did mri and x rays lookin into epridural shot first to see if I get any relief Dr said if that don’t work surgery is other option has anyone had any of this done and how long before they were up and goin again thanks in advance for your input I have had the shots and they provide relief but it is only temporary. Also had a couple radio frequency ablations which also helped temporarily. I finally had Laminectomy surgery in 2015 and had about 3 years of pain relief but it was only temporary as well. With the Laminectomy surgery, they removed about a third of three of my vertebrae to relieve the pressure on my spinal cord & nerve roots. If I had to do it over again, I would definitely NOT have the surgery again and the pain relief was only temporary, and my back was never the same again and greatly limits my activities. w

I had ruptured disc at L5-S1. After MRI, they tried the shot, but the fella doing the shot looked at it and agreed, it wasn't going to help. Did the shot anyway, as that is the next step in the insurance process (worker's comp. in this case). Well, the shot did nothing. 3 months later, after a fair amount of permanent nerve damage, they did a discectomy. I could not walk when I went in for surgery at 5:30 AM. At 2:30 in the afternoon, I walked out of the hospital under my own power. That said, surgery can be hit or miss. The first surgeon I saw wanted to do a fusion with rods/screws, etc.. Glad I got a second opinion. I did have to do no lifting for a solid three months and physical therapy twice a week of a couple months. This was 15 years ago. I'm doing pretty good, I think. I wouldn't dream of doing hard, physical labor for a living every day, but I can trap, hunt, fish and do any household chores that need doing.

I feel for you folks experiencing back issues. I experienced an annular tear a few years ago and that woke me up to back pain and sciatica. Has taken some time to get past it but I’m back on the other side. I can’t imagine suffering daily with zero hope of having it corrected. Prayers for all of you.
