Ever wonder why people think it's a good thing to be " out of the woods"? As in "We're not out of the woods yet". In the woods is a good place to be.

ergo, bibamus.

I was brought up in, and love being in the woods. Too bad that some don’t know how to take simple precautions when they go, like those that get Lyme disease, because they didn’t check to see and know they had a tick on them for days.

City boy or farmer must have coined that phrase.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

It's an ancient expression that referred to being lost in the woods. Being "out of the woods" meant you were safe.

Today it just means you lucked out of a bad situation.

Eh...wot?

The Japanese have it right, shinrin-yoku, the Japanese word for forest bathing or taking in the forest atmosphere. Not actually taking a bath in the forest but just go out in the woods, relax, take in the sights and sounds, leave your cell phone behind. Its good for your mental health.

I suppose if you were a logger saying another season in the history books as you ride a sled of logs out and the driver says we aren't out of the woods yet still time to tip it over and break your neck.

some people see the woods as a place with potential danger , a place for highway men and road bandits to hide in centuries past , you can see the fort/home/ village through the cut in the trees and think your home safe but the reminder you aren't out of the woods yet.

a metaphor for still time for something to go wrong.

there is of course danger everywhere and not just the woods , now the woods are safer than the city but you could still run into a bear.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
