I have to spend a week with the wife and kids in Charleston next month. Any recommendations on places to eat, things to do, or sites to see.

I barely recall a visit in childhood but I seem to remember visiting battlefields which stands to reason as it was the site of both revolutionary and War Between the States conflict.

I'd love to visit Ft Sumpter.

Hyman's is only about 6-7 blocks from the Ft. Sumter ferry dock we did it for supper the same day we took the kids to the Ft.

Lewis bbq and for seafood the wreck of Richard and Charlene - Hyman's seafood is downtown.

The USS Yorktown is at Patriots point.

If you like the beach and you want to see a lot of people go to Folly beach.... If you do not - go to Sullivans island.

Was going to suggest the Hominy Grill, but looks like it closed. Have not had every bowl of grits on planet earth,, so canno say these were the best, but they were very, very good.
