A friend of mine was attacked by 3 pit bulls while he was visiting his son in TX. He lost most of the lower muscle of his forearm to his wrist and a good share of the thigh muscle in one of his legs. They tore flesh from his back in spots. They would have killed him if it were not for a good samaritan driving by who beat them off him with a baseball bat. He was hospitalized for about a month. They had gotten out of the owners fenced yard. The owner was uninsured. My friend didn't know if the dogs were euthanized or not.

Your right, no insurance company will touch a home with a pit bull. I personally know a guy who was protecting his small dog from an attack by a black lab, of all dogs. The guy fell trying to stop the attack and broke his that needed surgery. That lawsuit awarded him into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, in fact he even quit his job at 48 yrs old.

When Prudential sold homeowner insurance, they would not insure an owner of a pitt bull and three other breeds. All policies carry a minimum of $100,000 of liability. Risk was unacceptable.

The most common feral dog I’ve encountered…or all have pit in them.

I knew of an insurance agent who had a company that would insure you if you owned a pit bull. But, he said the company required the homeowner to sign a "dog bite exclusion" endorsement. Which meant if the pit bull every bit someone, there was no coverage. Guess what? The pit bull owner who said his dog was just a big baby and was positive his dog would never hurt a fly, refused to sign the endorsement. Smart man, but a wiser option would be not to own one at all.

Most in this country have things people in other countries only dream about. Yet, they want America to be more like those other countries.

All dogs are bred for a purpose and have that instinct in them, even if it's not encouraged or used. My heelers like to chase and herd kids and nip at their heels, even though they've never chased a cow in their lives. I've had labs that would play fetch for hours even though they'd never seen a duck. I've walked a hound that would howl at every rabbit he saw, even though he never got to chase one.

Pitbulls were bred to bite and hold and not let go, and they'll happily do it, even if it's never encouraged.
