Brother and dad finally chewed me out enough to get on this 30-30 and make up some plinking loads soo gringot some mixed brass a few months ago dies for Christmas and the thing I'm really excited for is these bullets. One of the people who really helped me get into reloading and casting sent me these probably 6years ago before I ene though about casting and they have been sitting in my room since then. Think this is about the perfect opportunity to try them out smile

H110 is no good for that

if you just want soft shooting plinking ammo you probably want something closer to
unique on the burn chart.

there is some good info on castboolits for reduced loads using pistol powders mostly with unique , 2400 and bullseye

I used power pistol because I had it and it was close on the burn chart to unique but I don't recall what my measure was

Been using 22 p gr of IMR 3031 and it's a really fun little load , gotta say though these sites are not the easiest thing to shoot groups with . Pie plate @100yd most definitely, deer yess , 3" orange sticky at 50 ? 30rd and my eyes are killing me laugh got it on target ( whole lot of tapping with a punch and hammer )and probably should have stopped after I found the load worked but I really wanted to try shooting off hand a bit and well

I put peep sights on my 94 ... just could not get used to the originals. And for me it was a case of hunting with it or leave it on the rack

I am no expert but have read that to little powder can over pressure as well. Have you checked velocity? Light bullets and low velocity you might not want to poke a deer at 100.

Well these are just for plinking , shooting cans and the like not much else. And yeah the over pressure is something I worry about a good bit but this was a book load.....though for a higher grain bullet so there could b a problem there but 3031 give a pretty good case fill.
Anyway there's art getting pushed too hard at all

The factory sights on marlins and winnies leave a lot to be desired, put a peep sight on it, it might then need a taller front sight but then you have something...
My hunting rig is a 336 with a Williams FP with the aperture out, and a Williams firesight front bead. Accurate , fast, and "seeable"....
