My sister had a shetland. She gave ten bucks for it at the sale barn. He was a bit grouchy at times. Brought quite a few deer home for me. I would gut them and go get Happy (her name for him). He liked me as I would give him a little Levi Garrett once in a while. I would drape a deer over his back and walk beside him balancing it. He just headed home. Sister would get mad cause he would be bloody. She always ate the venison though. Dead deer didn't phase him at all.

My boy started on a shetland that my buddy's kids had rode until they were in high school. It might have bee the best broke pony around and he won a state all around title and multiple event buckles on the little outlaw "Trigger".

When I was a kid, a buddy had a Shetland that was the meanest thing to ever draw a breath! It would bite and kick every chance it got, and sometimes would chase you down to do it. Of course, there were 5 boys in that family plus the neighborhood kids, so I think it was a self defense mechanism.

What a neat photo, Hoss. That pony is very refined in his build, unlike most Shets Ive seen. Love to see shots like that . The kids are so happy .

Nice story too , Danny. Always good to put those ponies to work. I've ridden them and crosses of them, having to put some discipline in them for the little kids that owned them. The kids were too small and let the ponies get snarky , so then I would be the tough old "school marm" that smacked the snark out of them in riding. They are smart and calculating. One would glare at me and be very good, he knew he had to, but would act up again a soon as the kids would get on.

All your sis needed to do was take a hose and brush to him and the blood would wash right out. Or pretend he was an Indian pony with the red paint hand prints and circles on him.
