I’ve been “burned” more than once by this crock of crap! My mom bought a crock pot for us for an anniversary present a few years ago and I swear the new ones DONT cook! They heat. That’s about it. I can put in potatoes on high for 6-7 hours and they’re still hard. Maybe I have a faulty one but today I’m THROUGH with it! Took my corned beef out and put it in a good ol Dutch oven to cook properly!!! I may hang onto the crock pot to try and render fat and make soap. It deserves a crappier fate tho. I’d like to take a crowbar to it. I've taken to cooking my corned beef in an instant pot, pressure cooker. Only takes a short amount of time and gets nice and tender and stays moist.

I don’t have one of those. But my cousin was married to a Cuban fellow and he made us a roast in a pressure cooker. It was amazing!

Well, you need to get one. They aren't overly expensive and you can cook a pot roast from frozen to falling apart in about 90 minutes.

My last crockpot before this one had the opposite problem. Even on the lowest setting it would supercook everything. Forget about putting something in it and going to work. It would be charred when you got home. The one I have now is a Hamilton Beach and it works as it should.

We do have a large crock pot that works well. It is a Kenmore. It's bigger than we need, most of the time, so use the instant pot in slow cook mode for all day cooking.

Mine is a large one and is fine too. I love slow barely simmering bones in water all night to make the best bone collegian ever. Freeze in jars and use it for thick great chook soups, stews, anything.
It cooks everything else fine too. Like Angela's, sometimes it wants to simmer a little too hard for good gelled collegian, so all I do is set the lid off kilter a wee bit so it has more air to keep it slow simmer.

Susan upgraded to a new fangled programmable one that she found at a thrift sale. It takes about 2 hours to bring room temperature to a boil.
She uses it for all day meals and her instapot at least once a week. It's quite a little convenience.

Ill tell ya another tool that has made my rice cooking days fun and easy. A rice cooker. Mine is small, holds around five cups, but can measure for anything less too. Add water. All to the line indicated. Push "cook" and 45 minutes later, perfect rice every time. The aroma of jasmine rice as it cooks is pure heaven. No more stirring or worries. I have SJA to thank for his advice on some fine tools for Asian stir fry. A happy chef indeed. No cussing....unless they are happy exclamations of success

I have nothing clever to put here.

I have 3. Just bought one that has the lock down sealed lid. Got it for taking meals to potluck cookouts. You have to cook on low to match the regular ones. Never had an issue with not cooking. But new ones they changed the settings. All the way to right is warm now used to be high. Ask me how I know! Lol that sounds like I would have the paint marker out labeling it is short order

Sounds like you got a lemon so you think they are all bad. Not really good logic.
I have several of different sizes and they all work great. One is brand new. I agree I prob got a lemon. I never claimed to be logical; thus the crowbar. see there you are with that not logical , so much better pounding ,beating , destruction tools than bar intended for prying. if you don't have a pressure cooker they are very handy for fast cooking , I cook most of my pheasants in 19 minutes under pressure then pick the meat good for all sorts of stuff then , same with chicken thighs for making soups or other things you can dump bunch of thighs in and 19 minutes pressure pull let cool and pick . yes you probably got a lemon of a slow cooker potatoes in a pressure cooker only need 7-10 minutes under pressure unless they are huge most of the time it works fine to fire it up get up to pressure let it cook 5 minutes then shut off the stove and leave it 10 more minutes before opening the valve they keep cooking and stay under pressure for a while with no additional heat.
