There’s something about sitting down and cracking nuts, you know what I’m saying.
My Pudgy Grandma and Grandpa always had peanuts in the shell in a bowl in the living room. Me and my cousins would fill the little garbage can they had under the coffee table many times when we’d go there.
There’s something about that Earthy flavour you get when eating them straight out of the shell.
Really like boiled peanuts too. A deep south favorite. I haven't had those in many years.
Last year when I was in the gulf I tried boiled peanuts. Saw them for years along side the roads. OMG them things are nasty. But it might be that a person has a certain taste in mind about certain foods. Nay they are just awful.

Agree, and I'm a native southerner. Nothing nastier than a slimy mushy peanut. Both taste and texture is disgusting.
Yeah, tried boiled goobers twice. Both times bad. Any other way tho I love em. Heck I lived on peanut butter and mom's preserves and jelly when I was a kid. Still have a fold-over for a late nite snack lol.
I prefer Hazelnuts. My Uncle in Ireland always had burlap sacks of husked hazelnuts in the barn picked wild on the farm. When I was a small kid about 5 yo he gave me a jacknife and showed me how to cut the little teat off the bottom of the nut and open it with the point. Nothing like fresh raw hazelnuts.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
Hubs peanuts were re-gifted to me one Christmas. I’ve been hooked since. They’re crunchy and salty. They come in sealed tins. I’m overdue for an order. I try not to eat too many because diverticulitis seems to run in my family.

I'll eat okra any way it's prepared though honestly I really can't stand this modern heavy breaded fried okra that's still half raw being served at fast food places.
Proper fried okra is rolled in seasoned corn meal and fried crisp.
I get the big bags of peanuts from Amazon. Take some to every ball game. Hard to find the good restaurants anymore, that had the peanuts on table, and let you throw the shells on the floor.
This Yankee spent two weeks on vacation in southern Georgia. Little town called Willacoochee. While hunting Rattlesnakes with a local one afternoon. I had two firsts in my life. Boiled peanuts / Cane syrup. Both came from a little roadside vendor.
Lets just say the Syrup came back to Michigan with me. My Rattlesnake guide couldn't grab the peanuts fast enough. When i attempted to roll the window down.

I was at Texas Roadhouse on a Friday night once and saw 3 different people slip and fall on peanut shells. Their likely being inebriated probably didn't help them any. One older woman got hurt fairly badly, from the way she carried on afterwards.
I like eating peanuts and peanut butter. I am not fond of peanuts in Asian food, because they tend to be somewhat soggy, especially in leftovers. I imagine boiled peanuts are worse, but would try them, if they were in front of me.
How many on here have grown peanuts? They're fairly easy to grow and pretty cool to watch peg. They bloom above ground then send "pegs" growing down that penetrate into the ground to make the peanuts. That's why they do best in sandy soils.
Last time I was down in the Redneck Rivera I had some Cajun boiled peanuts that were edible. Prefer mine roasted. Burnt peanuts are good for a sweet tooth.

I always saw the signs in Georgia when driving through. Stopped and gott a large amount thinking they would be good . Had stopped just before and got some of the best grapes I had had in myy life so this time I wanted to have plenty of them. After all with all the signs they are that popular they would have to be good and I love salted peanuts in the shell right. Joke was on me I tried to eat them since I bought them but most went in the trash. Could have justt been the place I got them didn't make good ones but have not tried them again. Maybe after I try smoked coyote. The two I put in the boiler smelted taste well kind of. Cooking meat with wood smoke
