So why did you pick that tree and why do you think it’s attractive to them? I’m not a cat trapper so looking for any info that helps me……thanks!

Well, it looked like something was going thru it so I put a chunk of beaver meat in the middle of it, some serrira mist and feline fix on the side of the openings and blocked it in on both sides. I know cats like tight places and it's pretty tight. I think it's a curiosity thing.

Nooo.... laugh Sierra mist by Jameson. It's a rub lure. I'm, by no means an expert but I used it at every cat I caught. I just try to do what everyone on this sight says to do. So far it's working out great!

When you find a situation like that in cat country you hit a home run. You can create a similar situation. wherever you like and get the same result also. Cats love tight spots and a walk thru at that. You play your cards right and that will produce for you for many years. Add some scent to it is a done deal. I would drag that location and double set it.

I was thinking the same thing Bob , I don’t know if that location would gain any appeal if it gets torn up over and over.

Yes, a lesson learned well. Never, if at all possible, allow a prime location to be torn up for cats. Just too much odor and visual distraction and it will change an animal's behavior right from the start.

The once "single visual attraction" is now turned into a multiple interest area. It certainly may serve to delay a catch due to preoccupation of the detained captured animal held site.

This is just off a typical dry creek that has cat tracks in the snow and was frozen last week. How do I need to set it?

I'd would put 3 traps there. But that's just me. I'm just learning too.

May catch some coon, mink and coyote there also. Many animals will follow those creek beds just as a means to cover more ground, a low-profile area and ease of travel. A great place to set up. I would suggest multiple sets also. I would use a slide away system, cable extensions or drags to try and preserve the set location. Great location.

Thank you all for the advice. Will be a couple days before I can set it. Will hopefully be able to post results soon.
