To the stove pipe at the cabin. Would like to get it above the peak line. Is there any danger in this?

It should terminate at least 10 feet from the roof level line or above the ridge line.

Not quite there yet. I believe the original builder was trying to be incognito. Currently the prevailing wind comes over the ridge line and carries the smoke down into the woods.

Above the ridge would be fine.

Great, hoping to improve the draw a little with the extension. Should do it?

It's the 3-2-10 rule.

The chimney's shortest side needs to be at least 3 feet above the roof penetration and its top has to be 2 feet higher than any part of the building that's within 10 feet.

Eh...wot?

It’s to code but the code is so you don’t burn the place down, not maximizing draw.

screw the sections together and you might need a brace to support the stack

The code is for safety AND for maximizing draft. A chimney below a nearby roofline can downdraft because of the way the roof effects air currents.

The 3 part of the 3-2-10 rule is about safety. The 2-10 part is 100% about not impeding draft.

Eh...wot?

the cap should pop off then the connection be the same to just a a peice to the top as long as you can find the same type of pipe.

then you will need to support it with strap and some struts
