The code is for safety AND for maximizing draft. A chimney below a nearby roofline can downdraft because of the way the roof effects air currents. The 3 part of the 3-2-10 rule is about safety. The 2-10 part is 100% about not impeding draft. Eh...wot?

GREENCOUNTYPETE trapper G Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 18,626 Green County Wisconsin	the cap should pop off then the connection be the same to just a a peice to the top as long as you can find the same type of pipe. then you will need to support it with strap and some struts America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
