I fired one in a single shot and it stuck in the chamber.
Won't even feed into the chamber of a semi..any ideas why? [Linked Image]

The crimp on the older ones I use them in my Henry, the newer type plastic cap no problem. Hard to find them at times.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I’ve never been able to shot them out of an automatic. Same thing they stick, I don’t think they have the charge to help extract. I’ve got a Remington smooth bore that’s made specifically from them and never have any problems. I also wonder if the cases are just a little bit different sized.

The one fired from the bolt action but wouldn't eject. Something is fishy for sure.

Not enough charge for semis and the case because of the crimp expands and causes over expansion

What are they good for? #12 shot might work on a mouse at 4 foot away. Even worse if they stick in the chamber and you have two or three mice bearing down on you.

Statute of limitations run out, plus both parents have now passed, so OK to reveal that as kids, my cousin and I used birdshot in his dad's 22 revolver to shoot carpenter bees on the wing. Worked great for that. Can't think of much else it would be good for.

As for ejecting, we have the same problem in an old 22 single shot bolt gun that for 50 years plus has only shot shorts. Put a LR in it and it won't extract it. My guess is there is a carbon ring where the shorter casing ends. Same with longer bird shot brass?

Have you ever cleaned the single shot?

Just shot one from the 10/22. It went in easily, fired fine but didn't eject autoatic but did fine manually.

Went at it one day for an hour.......it helped a little. Have since found some better chemicals. Need to try again.

Back in the day they were called "bird shot". Think about it for a minute.

Well, that sounds sporting. I like it.

The shotshell casing is a tad longer than the LR. That must be the difference.[Linked Image]

They work great on snakes and chipmunks inside the chicken coop. I shot a lot of them last summer. I have an old POS 22 single shot that is now a dedicated 22 rat shot gun.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Yeah, maybe burning my cousin Birdie in the backside, as kids.

Useless gimmick, at best.
