Many many former NRA members were sick of paying for Wayne's wardrobe & multi-million dollar salary year after year.
Hopefully the next group of leaders will do what is best for the constitution & the 2nd Amendment.
Might even consider re-joining the organization again someday.
walleyed Funny, are you sick of paying for the wardrobe and salary of every politician in Washington?

Everyone has known for years that LaPierre is a real piece of work. Why was he allowed to stick around so long, while running the NRA into the ground? Really disgusting.

Are the directors who approved LaPierre's salary and expenses still on the board?
If yes, there may be just more of the same.

Jim I've never understood the high salary either. I doubt many other non profits pay like that, but maybe. I've sometimes wondered if he received a lot of harassment from antis & that maybe that was used as reasoning for unbelievably generous compensation.

walleyed Funny, are you sick of paying for the wardrobe and salary of every politician in Washington? Yes, Absolutely. Everyone of them. But I currently don't have any choice about paying those politicians. At the time, an NRA membership was a choice. w

Heller"After announcing that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to possess firearms, the Supreme Court explained that, [l]ike most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited.29 Nevertheless, the Court left for another day an analysis of the full scope of the Second Amendment.30 The Court did clarify, however, that nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of firearms, among other presumptively lawful regulations.31 As for the kind of weapons that may obtain Second Amendment protection, the Court explained that Miller limits Second Amendment coverage to weapons in common use at the time that the reviewing court is examining a particular firearm, which, the Court added, is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons.32"

Historically there were no restrictions on the second amendment. That happened in 1934. Went in front of the supremes in 39. If your bored read about the guy who took it to court and who argued for him.

Dangerous weapons? A bb gun can put an eye out!
NRA drove me up the wall with non stop mailings, figured if i wasn't a member all that money they save on postage and paper would be more than what my annual membership dues were.

Good news. WL is gone. Now all you cheaparses that used him for an excuse to NOT be a member don't have one any more. Time to sign up boys! But my guess is that you all will come up with another excuse! I never cared what he wore or got paid. Bottom line is we still have our guns! Agree or not without the NRA you'd be sitting around with your knitting needles instead of out shooting your guns. Rant over. I will have no problem renewing my membership if they alter course. The one thing that I really dislike about the organization is their constant harassment (weekly), begging for money. They lose credibility in my mind, always coming up with new scare tactics on a daily basis.

I just hope the high dollar donors don't leave with him. Yes, because the low dollar donors have already left.
