Right? Washington State is the one that needs to tell everybody else how to do (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman).

When I joined this site 12 years ago, it was all about trapping and trapping related activities. It has devolved into a whine and complain board for retirees abd unemployable individuals of low intelligence. I will check out at this point and wish you all well.

Arizona- becoming a Blue State - Trapping not allowed on Public Lands.
California - Liberal State - Abolished all trapping including cage trapping.
Colorado - Liberal State - Only allows cage trapping and I believe in certain cases will allow Footholds on private land for a certain amount of days.
New Mexico - Liberal State. -Recently outlawed all trapping on Public lands.
Washington - Liberal State - Only allows cage trapping.

The West is no longer the West I once knew. Liberals have destroyed much of it when it comes to our hunting, trapping privileges and gun rights.

Trapper Talk is exactly what we are doing. trapper talk. Sheesh! I think most people on her are very employable and highly intelligent. But then again, maybe I am not very intelligent for replying to you.

Trapper education / hunter education are good ideas.
I have no experience in low population states , so excuse me and my opinion.
I was grandfathered in as the law took effect years after I started both activities .
I'm not sure but I think it's very possible if you've been trapping for years before the law takes effect in another state.
If you can prove it with an old license , you don't need to take it.
Here in Ohio we have the same law and it was in effect in the 1980's as I took the hunting course twice because the children wanted me to be with them while they took it.
I went hunting in Colorado , and you needed a hunter safety course there, I was given my licenses , because they checked my records in Ohio.
I had a card I think , but didn't have it with me, and still don't know where it is.
They can check anything about you today.
I believe we can take the courses online , but our OSTA has many in person classes every year with actual trapping being done.
They learn by participating in the actual trapping process , including skinning and put up.
Hey I learned by trial and error , and from the many fur buyers in my youth.
How many fur buyers are around today?
Learned a lot from books also Stanly Hawbaker trapping north American furbearers was the best book of the time.
Become involved in your state trappers associations , maybe you can't help in person , but money donated helps.
You learn a lot from those courses , cuts down on a lot of mistakes in the actual activity .
Times have changed , and I'll be the first to blame anti hunters and trappers for many laws that make it harder to enjoy our pursuits in the outdoors.
At the same time if used right the laws can actually be useful to protect our rights.

I believe you don't have to be a resident to take the course. It is also free. Can be done at the kids own pace. Its even got someone reading the whole thing for those who don't read well. Its a good course and won't hurt anybody.

100% fine with that. But no kid should have to travel 100+ miles at the age of 8 to be able to trap.

Does Idaho require the education to set traps, or to get a license? Are minors required to have a license in Idaho.
In Alaska a trapping license becomes required at 18. Currently there is no trapper ed. requirement.

"Trapping License - Junior (Through 17 years)
$8.25"

It would appear so.

This course is not available online?
I think you are close to hurting your numbers if it isn't. Plus, requiring a license for minors is inhibiting.
