Just felt my first Evah Earthquake.
About 11:15 tonight a 2.7 quake was centered in Concord NH.
I thought it was the Dryer in the basement .....
All the Sheep were outside .....and not in the barn...they must have known something was up.
Didn’t last very long....just a rumble

HAHA! It's pretty frightening for your first time. My grandma was in Costa Rica and had like a 3.0 and it just rattled everything around. She said that it scared the living daylights out of her.

Only ever been in one. I was at home in southeast PA. The jars in the wall-mounted spice rack started rattling then we felt it. It wasn't a big deal but we knew right away what it was.
Epicenter was about fifteen miles away in Sinking Spring (wonder how it got that name). It did some significant damage to some apartment buildings over that way.
Eh...wot?

I had one just last week. Was laying in bed trying to drop off, when the house started shaking, lasted about 5 seconds. It made the news the next day, New Madrid fault some 300 miles away.

Been in several that lasted almost 30 minutes of trees falling and coconuts clattering and then thumping the ground. The hill sides had big bare vertical scars where trees used to be as they slide down the mountain side. They were called Guriers in the local pigeon english of New Guinea the northeast part. 3 times in one year probably 1970 I guess with the british military......jk

We had a few when I trapped in Arkansas. I was heading down the road with a buddy to another swamp to check traps. He said look at those telephone poles. At said what? Look at those poles down the road ahead of us. They were moving back and forth enough you could see it. I stopped and got out to look at them while we weren't moving. Then we could feel it. Saw my first Road Runners down there also at that time. Wait road runners are real, poor coyotes!!!!

I thought I was going through one here in se Texas years ago. the windows shook and doors started swinging. Turned on the news and they said space shuttle Columbia was missing. I figured it out.

We felt them in Afghanistan pretty often. Strange experience.
To a person ignorant of nature, his country stroll is a walk through a gallery filled with wonderful works of art with their faces turned to the wall

Was standing on a balcony in Japan having a smoke when I noticed the power lines were bouncing. Then we felt it. Eerie. About six years later , I was standing in a tower in Afghanistan and saw the same thing. Dancing power lines. I was in Kabul , word was the areas east of us had a lot of damage due to the rock/land slides . It's a weird event.

My one and only experience with them was in the Great Dismal Swamp. We were there for a wildfire.......and then had a horrific rain with intense flooding.......and then an earthquake. All that in the span of 14 days.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I love big earthquakes, they are awe-inspiring.
My first one was when I was 6 years old, it was the great Alaska quake of 1964. I was living in Vancouver BC, a long way from the epicenter, but is was still strong.
My second big one was the 2001 Nisqually quake in Washington. I was just a few miles away from the epicenter of that 6.8 magnitude quake, it lasted about 40 seconds. That seems like an eternity during that magnitude of quake; a great experience.
The most recent big quake was the July 2021 Chignik Alaska quake. I wasn't too far from that 6.9 quake either; again, amazing.
I've experienced a lot of smaller quakes. If you decide to become an earthquake chaser, I'd suggest spending a week or two on Adak Island Alaska. You will find strongly felt quakes there weekly. I see Adak had a 4.1 earlier today, pretty normal.
