I've always shot Remington Core-Lokt ammo in all my large caliber guns and have always been very happy with it's terminal performance.

I have a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington that has been fed a steady diet of Core-Lokts since it was purchased by my dad in 1953. He shot his first buck with it, I shot my first buck with it, my daughter shot her first buck with it and now it's my granddaughter's turn.

I'm down to my last box of Core-Lokts. I've been searching for over a year to get more with no success.

200 grain Hornady LEVERevolution ammo is available. Does anybody have experience with the terminal performance of this ammo on whitetail sized game? Will it kill deer as easily as Core-Lokt ammo does?

Eh...wot?

It’ll work fine for deer…. You will probably need to sight your gun to it as it’ll likely shoot higher than the core lock

Insert profound nonsense here

I wish you luck. My ex-father in law had a Marlin just like yours and it was a real sweetheart. It never dropped a deer in its tracks like my .25-06 does, but it was slow enough you could hear the impact and the venison was always waiting with in about 40 yards. The blood trail looked like you had punched a nail in a can or red paint and drug it to the carcus. These were big Kansas deer about 1/2 an hour from Yes Sir's stomping grounds.

I will always wish his daughter and I had made it as a couple if for no other reason I would someday inherit that little gem LOL.

I have used it in 444 then realized the brass was shorter than other brass and sold it all could not reload with anything but the Hornady lever bullets that turned me away

I've been using the 30-30 version after years of using corelokts, these LE's are like a 30-30 on steroids, it's a next level of performance, especially if your hunting small properties or at dusk, they rarely get out of sight of the shot. BUT....some rifles don't like them, I'd try a box before you commit to them, and you will have to re sight the gun . Friend of mine uses them in a 35 and is happy with the performance.

They don't kill any deader, but faster, so easy to find.

"200 grain Hornady LEVERevolution ammo is available" All I can say is WOW. My 100 yard 35 (same as yours) is now a 200 yards (max - I assume) gun. Shot an elk with it some, Pa bears and deer. And by the way a buddy of mine had the same gun and his shoots the old 200 grain well, mine did not but the 150 was good in my gun??? Ihave shot crows at over 125 yards with the150s. I just bought 3 boxes of the Hornady for $65 each at the Maine convention, it is not cheap any more. I have seen it at $85 here in Pa.. Great stuff in my opinion.....jk

I had a buddy tell me a couple days ago that Remington 35 could be ordered from Remington. Supposedly they made some.

I’ve used them in 30-30 and 45-70 on deer. They work great, even in the 30-30. The 45-70 is like the hammer of Thor.

FYI - Bass Pro / Cabela's has 35 Rem in stock in Winchester Powerpoint and Leverevolution right now.

Powerpoint and Corelokt have always worked about the same for me in 30-30 / 35 / 32

however Rem ammo was bought by ATK and is back to making the core-loct 30-30 rounds

I have feeding problems with them in my marlin 1895 45-70 guide gun. The tip makes them too long to feed up into the chamber from the magazine. Just something to keep in mind on your marlin. I have read where you can drill a divet in the follower to allow for the extra lenght but i just shoot winchester super x flat nose in it

The hornady round was never as precise as the core lokts in my old 30-30 336. Not even close.

They are not worth a crap in .44 mag out of a Henry Carbine. Yes they are accurate but you get near zero expansion and blood trails are very light. Just pokes a tiny hole through a deer hit in the ribs, deer takes off like you missed completely. I will never buy them again. This is the same results we got from Hornady SST ammo in 12 ga as well. I shot a deer twice through the rib cage, holes less than an inch apart and it never even flinched, just kept running. If it were not for snow in the ground, I likely never would of recovered it. Looked like a clean miss and blood specks so little they could of been easily missed. It did open up after 30 yards but turned me off that ammo too.

My boy shot a deer with one on a quartering away shot was slightly off target so the bullet went nearly the full length of the deer and was recovered on the opposite shoulder. This is how we figured out the expansion problem.

Here's the recovered bullet from it...

Ribs is a large territory, some parts are almost instantly fatal, others not so much. Punch em in the high shoulder, heart, or lungs and they aren’t going far, if anywhere. Shot placement is more relevant the slower a bullet is traveling due in large part to less hemorrhagic shock. Not everyone has the same outcomes, hence the large amount of options we are lucky enough to have. I’ve found in my 30-30 they are a super good performer. My experiences may be different from others though. IMO, the OP should definitely give them a go. May well be surprised, and we’ve all spent money on worse things. The Sig’s are an awesome round in their own right. They are my EDC round hands down. Happy hunting all.

Great accuracy in my Marlin 1895ss 45/70.Having said that I prefer the Core lokts for deer hunting. It seems to me the Hornadys are overkill in that caliber but I never had any trouble with feeding or accuracy.

I have found the same thing, while my Gramps Marlin 93 dos not like them my 336 does and the 45/70s work in every gun I have and are about the most accurate factory round I have used

The fact that the brass is shorter then normal is a bummer but then I have other brass for those other loads so alls good
