Was digging through a friends traps and he has a Victor #2 where the jaws go through the base plate from the outside in. Opposite than normal. Were they made that way at one time or did someone change it up??

Really, that is the only one I have seen. I only have a few but the jaw tips all go from the inside out.

I think they were called reverse jaws. Supposedly to keep the jaws from popping out. Not as common as the regular jaws, but they are out there...

Just checked, most here are outside in, but do have a few inside out. I assumed the inside out's were the odd balls.
Now I know,
Thanks

The standard jaws on Victor #2 coils go from the inside pointing out. That is the most common set up.

In the mid 1970s, Animal Trap Company experimented with the reversed jaw ends - going from outside pointing in. I don’t remember why, but the reversed
jaw end design wasn’t liked by trappers and after a year or two ATCo went back to the standard jaws.

If you look at the profile of the two styles, the reversed jaw end traps have a lower profile than the standard jaws.

On the used trap market, reversed jaw end traps tend to bring 50 cents to a buck less than standard jaws. In my experience.

Pics here show that difference. I never noticed it to be that much lower, and subsequently wider.
Also, the levers come up a bit higher on the standard ...... naturally.
How common were OS's in the day ?

I've sold tons of number 2's over the past 10 years, can't say I noticed much of a price differential. I am surprised they only made them a couple years, I ran found and purchased lots of them.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Saw a Mark Steck show recently where he said they were one of his favorite rat traps.
Worst trap ever made for fox or coyote.
Hit the fox too high on the leg, and a coyote would pull the jaws out.
I like his shows.
