When I was a kid it was common and great fun to make fun of the Texans who showed up for elk then deer season. It was those Texans who got it turned into a combined season and made leasing hunting permission a reality.
Then people in CA started figuring out they could sell their home in the city , buy 20-30 acres and build a new house with money left over, in CO. They started voting too. First came zoning laws. They were being taken advantage of by unscrupulous builders. They wanted someone else to take of them the way they had been in west Covina or whatever. Freedom shreedom, too lazy to look out for their selves. Like cockroaches they kept creeping in till they were an infestation. Destroying the place they were moving too in the same fashion.
I fail to see how anyone can be surprised that the cockroaches want things to be exactly like they are on their home planet of California
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Get what you vote for. Just like the nation and poopy joe The nation did not vote Joe, you know it and so does everyone else. This would be ok....if they let you trap them only. I wouldn't mind taking away the ability to hunt those as long as it was legal to trap that species. Is there some problem with population size of these species in colorado? I thought CO was very abundant with wildlife and used to be one of the grand trapping states of the old days. You just keep digging your hole deeper and deeper.

Lynx were reintroduced in 1999 at a great cost to the tax payer, there are some breeding pairs and a hand full of native sons. Strictly off limits to hunting or trapping. 23 years later the population is far from booming, https://www.google.com/amp/s/gazett...570-ff12-11e9-a084-df1992ca9e70.amp.html Personally I feel bobcats are filling the niche, particularly in this mega drought, and summer months. At any rate, this like many things today is undoubtedly politically driven, there is no evidence of population decline of any of the three species targeted. In fact I average at least one Mt. Lion a year in a bobcat trap each season and average 5 live traps drug out and messed with each season. I assure you that the Lion population here in CO is the highest it has ever been. No, I’m pretty sure the Governors husband is a huge animal rights activist, this all came up over a bottle of wine.

Urban, women, Democrats from Boulder area. They want to manage wildlife with their emotions, rather than letting the state biologists manage, using the best science available. Charging up people's emotions is the way they get votes, and most politicians are searching for emotional issues to rally their voting base, whether they understand the issue or not.

ShagMan, i seen a lynx caught and released in the 60's just over the hill from you. Fox creek by Coaldale. Always been a rare one around I'd say. I think they are like lions in KS that wander here occasionally.. Wandered down from up north. Just like KS is not good lion habitat CO is not good Lynx habitat. Was a really stupid idea to turn some loose. They are not thriving. If the habitat was there the cats would be too.

I hunted elk over 20 years in CO. The last 6 years was with an outfitter out of Craig. He said too many left wing, liberal, Hollywood types moved into the area. They got their types in office and have been doing their best to stop all forms of trapping, hunting, etc. He told me horror stories about some of the crazies in Steamboat Springs. Tree huggers and save the animals too many of them.
Remember as a kid we played army and you gave up the fort so the other side got it? Of course you don't. Little kids aren't that stupid.

You don't seem to have a clue about Colorado and its trapping regs,or what this legislation is all about No, you are correct, I don't know about Colorado trapping regs, because I live and trap in the state of Louisiana. I also read the legislation because a link was posted, but are you suggesting there is some alterior motive to the legislation? The only "clue" I have about Colorado is all the complaining about democrats taking over the state and changing the laws and that Magpul left Colorado after the state banned high capacity magazines. @Hoosier71 Is a person really hunting bobcat or are they shooting them at times of opportunity? Either way if the ability is there to trap them, I am going to go with trapping every single time. If there is no ability to trap, but ability to hunt, obviously I support keeping the hunting avenue open.
