I have one of the blocks of trap wax that is about 8 inches by 5 inches. My question is how many traps will this do because it seems to me that by the time it melts that it wont be but a couple inches deep, which is not enough to even cover the traps.

I have a large boiling pot just a little smaller than the ones they use on a turkey fryer and it took 10 of the blocks to get it up to a level where I can sink 4 1.5 dukes in it. Once you get that it does not use much wax to wax your traps, I think I have added 1 or 2 blocks to do over 100 traps this year.

Another question, how can you clean all the wax out of a pot if you need to?

melt the wax and pour it into another container. while the pot is still hot is the best time to clean it, just be very very careful.

I use a pot just big enough to fit my biggest trap in, then melt enough wax to cover a trap, I do one trap at a time, and keep the wax in the pot year round.

I survived the death clutch of Boss Hog, and am now here for my 3rd tour of duty on Tman
