A pair of Gibbs Armadillo traps were listed on eBay during the overnight hours that had an instruction sheet in a photo that told how to contact and purchase the trap BUT ONLY direct from the seller. The traps appear to be in very good condition and the price is a bit low. I have searched for and read everything that I could find in an hour or so and it appears that this is a scam that has been repeated numerous times with different types of fairly expensive items. I expect that the ad will be or has been taken down by eBay but it will have been seen and read by many. I have NO personal information BUT suspect that this is an attempt to get folks to part with substantial sums of money for which they will likely receive nothing in return.

Yep I saw the add and it seemed odd. The trap keeps disappearing only to reappear a couple days later.

My understanding is that eBay removes the account that lists an item but the folks involved just set up new accounts. APPARENTLY their method is just to get folks to read the invitation to purchase direct so there would be no eBay protection. As the values of more desirable collector traps has increased into thousands of dollars each we have increasingly been troubled by various sellers who fabricate entirely or partially new traps that are aged and sold or in this instance, perhaps take buyer monies but do not deliver the goods.
