I don't think your going to see a toothed version of the 750. But hopefully they will lose the wide faced cast jaws on some models so they can be used on beaver and otter. ADC give Bill a holler he will listen to what you have to say. That goes for any one, Input Is what's needed Bill Isn't a trapper.

A regular square edged jaw will hold better then a wide smooth faced jaw. Take the edge of a ruler and hold It against your finger and put some pressure on It and try to pull your finger away from the rulers edge. Know lay the ruler flat and repeat the process.

X2 beav. The wide smooth jaws are for the animals comfort and to solve PC issues IMO but decrease holding ability especially on critters with narrow tapered feet like beavers and coons. Beav next time to talk to Bill as him about the toothed trap if they are that style of trap (upsized Duke 650). It seems all they would need is different mold to shape to make the different jaw design. I honestly feel it would be a very popular style option. Maybe even just offer the jaws as replacements??? You got more pull than a lowly bloke like myself. You know how the teeth work on a trap like #14 jump, it makes a below average #4 jump trap, into a serious beaver trap.

Agree with beav and adc on this a wide smooth will lessen hold power . While lams will not necessarily will not lessen a AS MUCH . Because you are stacking and have gaps to help grab better. More is need to do the same by more you add ,,more spring is required imo .

By just adding bumps on jaw surface you would gain a bunch imo

That's a good point red mt. The actual teeth on most traps are very blunt.

That is a good looking trap. I wish they would make an inside laminated steel jaw version that would meet our 5.75 inside limit in Georgia. Or better yet I wish Georgia would change the law. Yeah doubt that will happen. The reasoning I heard is because of our high deer population. Guess for beaver we only have the snare or coni option.

Well my 114s have blunt teeth and my New house 4 1/2 wolf has blunt teeth and my 14 jumps have fairly blunt teeth.

ADC is spot on imo all the blunt teeth do is hold foot in one spot. And if you think about if you put swivel on one side of the base or other once the foot gets to the opposite side foot is done moving also. Hard to push a soft rope up hill .

The idea of a toothed trap being produced and marketed today....meaning on sporting goods store shelves, on public display, etc.....concerns me a little. While the explanations on this thread make complete sense to a trapper, the general public is a different matter.
It seems like every time legal issues or reg suggestions arise, in any state, ultimately it is the trapper who gives and concedes a little each time. Often the Hollywood stereotype of a trap is that of one with teeth, with those being often oversized and inflicting pain. Obviously, we as trappers see this as incorrect. But the oblivious public does not.
Trapper image takes enough hits. I can how new, shiny toothed traps would just draw attention to another regulation change. Using a decent trap like an MB750, I really see no need for teeth or bumps or anything else. I'm grateful for the ability to use them as is.
I really don't want a snotty reply to this either, I am just stating my opinion as a trapper in a great beaver state.
