I have some ground up bobcat meat that I would like to add some skunk fat to. Any idea of how much fat per gallon of meat I should start off with? And should I add the fat before or after I age the meat? Thanks in advance.

My understanding is it's another attractant for colder weather.

skunk fat will render out oil like beaver tails do. good clean skunk fat is near to odorless. I wouldn't do a whole gallon unless you have a lot more bobcat meat to experiment with. try your experiment on a small scale first

Thought I would try it but just wanted some feedback first. Thanks.

skunk fat is a nice addition predators seek out high protein once the thermals drop! To 5 gallons of meat I add 1/2 a gallon of skunk fat just enough to give the bait a creamy consistency before it taints. To much fat will slow down the tainting process..Just me but I want my gravy to smell the same as the base material.Ive had poor results on skunk fat as a stand alone attractant. Imho its due to its mild nature. Leave a little meat attached to the fat you get a cloudier oil but it has more smell. Extreme cold it will get pretty hard ! As does most rendered oils

Thanks Tony and Bob, this is what I'm going for as it turns cold rather quick like. Figured I would do half with fat and half without and see what my results are like. Limited amount of skunk fat but can always add more as I get it. Thanks!!
