Yes but how much better is the question? Might ship to FHA next year to see, but considering shipping costs and commission I’d have to average $7-10 more at auction. Maybe that’s possible. Last year I averaged $33 on cats with gfw. I was happy and hoping for similar. We shall see.

Decent overall was happy. Hoping for better on the cats but glad to get a check. Kids had a good time and Gary was more than fair on the coons. Disappointed in the turnout. I think I was the 3rd and last to drop off. Good thing is this little check put enough in the kitty for the Bonis. Will be ordering Monday morning. 4 put up beaver 3 frozen $9 avg 2 smaller female otter Put up. $25 avg 12 bobcats. $21.25 avg 8 coons put up. $5 avg Kids helped a lot this year from setting traps to skinning and put up and “helping” Gary today. Cool for them to see it full circle. My little girl loves it. I don’t push it on them but sure get excited when she asks to Help me in the shed. Now she’s into lure making. Since we caught a coyote on her hand sanitizer lure a few months ago, she’s an expert at making “stinky stuff” now. I’m enjoying every minute of it too.

I would like to see Groenewold's run a route in Virginia. Just send him a email to him thats all I did then he called me and we talked a while and he told me that he would look into putting in a stop in Tennessee . Then later on I seen that he added a stop .Now I don't know how many will turn up but I will find out tomorrow.

Flippin awesome. Thanks for sharing. I have a 7 month old daughter and I hope she takes an interest in trapping some with me one day. I think it’s wise to not push it on them but to let them take to it if they are willing. Always nice to see the southern guys on here making it happen. We don’t have that heavy pretty stuff like northern and westerners do.

Nice put up and fur. I realize they are "southern cats", but I think they are awesome. I think it is great that your kids are wanting to get involved. GREAT looking hats they have on. Did you make them? Thanks.
God bless and happy trails. Swampfox Thanks Swampfox. I thought they were nice looking too. Gary did explain why they were commercial cats and pointed some things out about them. Basically said the commercial cat market was a crap shoot and right now they just weren’t moving much. And yes I did design and hand sew the hats. This is the last year she’ll be able to wear hers, so I’ll have to make her a new one. They keep me busy and got a another little boy expected middle of May.

If I had bobcats, I would tan them and sell them to tourist. I might even work on my taxidermy skill again and rug them before I sold them. I could probably move them at $200 tanned here.

$407 total. Groenwald is just a middleman. You can do better. Good luck!

Middlemen, Dave.
I'm not telling bur to send to another middleman. I'm encouraging him to find end users. He is looking at fur sewing machine, which can be an excellent way to maximize your fur return. He also can do much better selling tanned fur; especially bobcats.

Every product I sell comes with a true cold hard fought story. Well, maybe not true but bone chilling. Dirt I had to auto-correct Canadian style. Bur thanks for posting your results and the kids involvement looks like they had a good ROAD TRIP.

$407 total. Groenwald is just a middleman. You can do better. Good luck! Maybe we can do better with this southern fur.....if you invest to get them tanned and then invest to sew them into garments. That ain't my cup of tea. I'm a trapper...not a garment maker.

Bottom line - if you (bur) is happy the his fur check that is the most important thing. Having said that - if you (bur) is investing in a fur sewing machine, I think you can get a much better return on the fur you trap, especially the bobcats. It will involve some additional expense (commercial dressing fees), but once you figure out a product and a market, you will make more money on your fur. Great to see the kids involved. They are the next generation of trappers. Good Job.
