Both my sons got a Rottweiler from same breeder, both turned mean a little over a year old, I shot one, vet did other.
Breeder had many dogs returned, or destroyed

Every belgian malinois should be killed also, all they do is bite.

Except for Charlie. He is a good boy!

A breed I don't trust as far as I can spit a brick. Even when we were on the same team !

My brother was bit by his own dog! Stupid cops.

Bob,

He starts making this little squeal in his throat as soon as the bay dogs are sounding off . Only sound he makes . No barking , no nothing . Just this excited squeal . Upon release , he's gone into the mess to get hold. Eyes roll back in his head as he catches . Looks demonic .

I'll add that in the two years we've all been hunting together , I've seen very few catch dogs make the cut . Very hard for them to learn how to turn it "off" or keep the aggression pointed in the right direction. Those that can't do it are not sent to someone else.

Sorry to hear about your granddaughter's pony Danny. That really sucks; those dogs should never be allowed to run free. I totally agree with you in not having one unless it will be used for what it was bred to do and then the rest of the time penned up in a pen with a chain to make sure. I just don't trust some of the door locking mechanisms.

Every hog hunter with any sense keeps those kind of dogs kenneled at all times. When hunting, it gets lead to the bay on a leash. If they have one that misses a catch on the first try and can't be caught and leashed immediately, then it ought to get a bullet in the head and be left in the woods right there. We have two in kennels now b/c my boy catches with them regularly. But, they are the only ones that get put in a kennel that also gets a chain put around it and locked EVERY time. Anyone that has ever seen what they can do to a hog in just a matter of minutes and how some are just plain dumb and their attitude can change does not take that chance. I grew up running pigs and all my buddies have dogs and hunt as well. None of them would ever trust any of their catch dogs around their kids period.

I now have pats and have yet to see them go bad, but expect if they were kept solely as a pet or left to their own doings it would happen. I will add all cattle dogs to the list of bad pets. I have seen to many of them run free to chase the neighbors cattle at will and bite the legs of everyone that they see. If folks want a pet, get a pet breed. If they want a working dog, by all means get a working dog but use and handle it responsibly. That is my 2 cents.

I think that's the crux of the problem for bull breeds , Andrew. Their work is a very narrow niche that very few bull owners do. Simple exercise just won't cut it, they need to be able to sink their considerable jaws into something that fights back. The two guys I know that have bulldogs as catch dogs usually are catching pigs two or three times a week. But , that being said, we still never fully trust them . Certainly not after seeing what they can do to a 300 lb po'ed boar. Can only imagine the terrible damage they'd do to a child.

But as said , my buddies do a great job of keeping them busy and contained.

Thanks Aaron. I hear some folks say that their pit is a gentle loving dog, wouldn't hurt a flea, keep him inside around the kids, its just how they are raised that makes them do bad thins, no worse than any other breed, etc...........I say this.

Give me 5 minutes inside a gooseneck trailer with a swing gate, the dog, and a hog not big enough to hurt it, but big enough to rough the dog up a bit and you will see immediately. That NO, pitbulls are not like other dogs.

Exactly ! I appreciate the job they do and a good one is worth it's weight in gold. However...

Yes sir. A fenced/chained "pet" Pitt ( or any bull breed) is a time bomb. They've got to be worked .

When our lab brings you a ball or decoy you better take him out and work him or he will be a butt the entire night.

Some days he gets so wound up I will take him to 3 or 4 places and swim him. lol

A guy brought one to the local softball game Thursday and it bit my buddies 8 yr old girl. This creep starts acting like it wasn't the dogs fault. Don't trust any of them

Sorry to hear this Danny; thankfully your granddaughter didn't see her pony this way. What a shame.

And we've had him since he was a puppy and he's ten now.

THATS the problem. People dont know what they are made for. I own a kennel and have been boarding and training dogs including pits for over 30 years. Pits are some of the nicest cleanest dogs i get in but will NEVER trust one around my grandaughter for even a second. They were bred for a specific reason the same way a bird dog is. They have it in them. Shepards are some of the worst for some reason. Aaron profit explains it perfectly.
