I attach mine as close to the stake as I can get it. I use copper wire and roll or fold the tag also. I don't have too many problems.

I wrap mine tightly around the swivel farthest from the trap and squeeze tight with a pliers. I lose less this way then wiring them on.
When I was 45 I thought I was bulletproof.......I was wrong. Official field tester of Federal Premium 3 1/2" magnum copper plated turkey loads.

Use to wrap mine around the frame under the pan, actually lost fewer that way than wrapping around the chain toward the end/stake end.
Baseplating kind of hindered wrapping around the frame though.

never saw the need for the use of wire if wrapped/rolled and crimped properly name address to the inside and crimped tightly ... if someone feels they need to know who it belongs to they gotta work for it and it's no guessing whether or not it's been tampered with

Their is a smaller version of hog ring crimp(often used and sold with sausage making supplies) that works well for me. 3/8" size. $2/100.

I use wire ties, small black ones. They don't boil off and have been real satisfied since I started with them years ago. Doesn't anyone else use them?
