How many ARs in this country now 2 million 5 million? Yea that will do it. Lets stop bringing them in.

My prayers to the victims and there families. If you take God out of society it makes room for the opposite. We reap what we sow as a society. I do believe years back they were talking about the consequences of all the violent video games kids were starting to play. Maybe this is the result.

ARs are junk, I don't see why most of you like them so much. The AK47 is a much better choice of weapon for self defense and it is more reliable.

Finster, in response to your demand that teachers "should be armed and if they refuse they should be dismissed" that is perhaps the most stupid thing I have ever read. More guns ain't the answer big boy - less easily obtained automatic weapons, fewer 15-shot magazines would be a good start tho.

I know I'll be labeled as some kind of traitor by you guns nuts, but I'd personally love to see some common sense and less NRA-driven paranoia. I personally hunt and carry a firearm more days than most on here, but I hate AR's. Seeing kids bloody in the streets every week is making me re-think my philosophy. Dead teenagers or semi-auto rifles. Hmm, seem like an easy choice. Nobody needs to be able to buy an AR, and nobody needs a 15 or 30 shell magazine. I'd be happy as heck if they were outlawed.

Gimme my shotgun, a .22 and a couple deer rifles. I won't ever own an AR.

I hope that cherished .22 isn't tube fed. Could be considered a high capacity mag. FYI they make magazine for the .22 that can hold 50 oor 100 rounds. I can understand what you are saying but you can't blame a tool. When I was in school the "tool" was a car. If I remember correctly my class lost 9 kids to auto accident before we graduated.

Slippery slope my arse. That's just an NRA talking point. Ingrain in their base that ANY gun law is a bad thing. That banning any type of gun is a bad thing.

It's common sense. When we see mass shootings and every one of them is with an AR and 15 or 30 round magazines, common sense would dictate that maybe we should do something about them. The shooting is not about the gun, but the massive body counts and carnage and wasted lives of innocent teenagers IS about the guns.

With 300+ million people in our country, there's going to be some severely mentally ill/unstable/violent people who will slip through the cracks and do mass shootings. But there would be a lot fewer dead children at the end of it if these people weren't able to get military-style AR's and 30 round clips whenever they wanted them.

You can't argue with that.

The sheer stupidity of many posting on this thread is shocking. I knew we are a diverse group, in areas, but guns and gun ownership should be one of the few points we all agree on.

I posted this on another thread and will post it again here. I know this might be viewed as being insensitive but it couldn't be further from the truth. But reports are coming out and quotes from students interviewed that it was joked about that it would be this kid that would come back and "shoot the place up". He made many disturbing reports on social media. Students and staff were well aware of the potential threat and no one did anything to report. We keep to ourselves so well that we as a community ignore the obvious signs around us. This is the reason why we see this happen so often these days. Get involved and be aware and for God sake if you see something say something.

Wally I have more guns than most including ARs, I think I should be able to have a full auto if I want one. Hope that clears that up for ya.
