Who's doing it and how's it working??

What ratio of paint to what kind of thinner???

Any other kind of paint work??

I've tried thinned out latex as people have suggested....IT SUCKS. I've tried spray paint...I can't IMAGINE how anyone could do a sizeable quantity of traps with SPRAY CANS!!!

Speed dip works for certain...but it doesn't seem to last the season...looking to find something better!

I use brown rustoleum primer, the small can to a gallon of mineral spirits. And it works great. Will last more than one season, this was the second season for mine and think it will make three.Again it was primer not gloss finish.I got the info from someone on Hals site.

One more thing Tom if you look again.....how many "dips" did it take to get good coverage...oh, and did you save the stuff?

Equal parts of paint and thinner will give you good coverage with one coat. I use the brown primer with a small can of black to darken it. Seems to work well.

Randy, are you like buying a quart of primer and the small can of flat black to darken?

I get rustoleum in cans at Ace Hardware, but some farm stores also carry it.

If you use spray cans, let the overspray go onto a pile of traps that are ready to be painted. By picking your next trap to paint from the pile and letting the overspray go onto the pile yet-to-be treated, you get a lot more "mileage" from a can of paint.

Tnoll, Tom... you are using the paint at 4 to 1 with thinner? does it take more than one dip to coat the trap???

Tex...thanks for the info. I tried latex about three years ago and it almost literally fell off. Not sure what I did wrong...but man it sucked! Maybe wrong paint? No idea!

Danial I've found a little better success by using olive drab and brown type colors as opposed to black. I think at least on land and with coons (my main targets) they stick out more when black. Also it helps hide them from thieves. In water for beaver, rats and such perhaps black is just as good.

Just something else to throw a wrench in the works. \:\)

ADC,

I've messed with a few different colors of spray paint over black speed dip to camo. I honestly can't say if it makes a lick of difference in the water? I camo my 330s pretty well with natural materials though. THAT for sure helps. On most of my sets you can't see anything but a ragged hole in the brush. I think I'm going to use the brown rusteolum.
