Hello, I picked this up the other day. Any one ever heard of sturgon falls Canada stamp? Did Newhouse make any split jaw post on early model bear traps? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I doubt very much your posts are correct, the rivets look wrong too, the sturgeon falls stamp is legit though, at least one other bear trap has that stamp I know of.

Yea. Thanks for the info. One spring is trip hammered. The one with the split post is hand forged.The patina matches perfectly.Everything is uniform and balanced. Its just a pleasant trap to look at. Thanks again.

I read somewhere that Newhouse did make split jaw posts,only make sense before he had foundry access he would have made by hand.
