I have a pint plus on cat glands and want to make some gland lure for next year. Questions: Grind now or after it's aged, how long to age, should I add anything to it and how much. Been trapping since I was 12, am now 65, about time I made some of my own gland lure. Just joined trapperman website. Great find.

I like to grind my glands fresh, so I don't have to smell em when they rot down - lol.

I like to cover my glands with a bit of bobcat urine and let them age for at least one year, but longer is better.

I leave em alone until ready to use.

Don't put the glands to age in a sealed glass jar - they will emit gas as it decomposes. Its ok to put them in a glass jar, but make sure it's not sealed.

Always grind prior to aging glands. Its quite a mess to do it later if possible then.Need to age at least one season maybe two depends on the variables.Mix in some good clean cat urine, some preservative and an antifreeze and you will have some good basic cat medicine.

I buy mine from people who know what they are doing. The lure is proven, the price is cheap when you think of the misery you avoid, and the best reason is, I am not sure I got a year or two to let them age. I am pretty well aged myself. I would hate to go to all that trouble and not get to try the stuff.

A soft answer turneth away wrath.

I don't bother to grind mine. I toss anals, hock, ear, armpit, testes, uterus, ovaries, bladders, all in a plastic coffee container and set in a warm shop for a couple of years. When it is ready there is nothing to grind, just stir it all together! I'll often toss in a few beaver oil sacs also.

i've wondered what all is put in there......is that what most people grind up?? i've got about a pint of bladders, testes, anan glands in a jar, but wasn't sure what else. the ears make sense.....

armpits? what area? just the meaty tissue under there?

There is a small gland in the armpit just lile the hock gland, surrounded by fat. I have no idea if this is how others make theirs but it works for me!
