Howdy, sorry for the bad pic. Found this bear trap and thinking about making an offer on it. It appears to be a herters. It is in pretty good shape. Any idea of its value? Thanks.

There are 7 different models of Herters bear traps. Made from the mid 1960s until the late 1970s. Value could range from $400.00 to $750.00.

There is also a reproduction bear trap with an H cut out of the pan. Made from 1981 to the 1990s. Value is much less, probably $400.00 absolute max.

Wording on the pan will tell whether it is a Herters or not.

To tell the different Herters models apart you will need fine details about pan wording, cross piece placement and trigger.
