I got a sample from J.F. Oakes- smells like licorice. Has anybody tried it - what kind of results did you get?

My own, just flat out works year round for me rain snow freezing temps, no problems. Rat flesh and blood alone work well for some situations during cold weather. Sometimes once the baits licked clean they start eating the trap right around the trapped rats.

I use PB and chicken bones, works great for my needs.
Really like the traps with the cup in the middle of the pan, never miss, but they don't hold up well.

Bob, I agree about the traps. Let Bell Labs know that they need to make those traps stronger in places. I sent them an E=mail. They also make a liquid rat lure for that cup that we've had pretty darn good success with.

I have a landowner that was baiting snap traps with PB and getting a lot of snapped traps. Is this from rats pulling out or another reason. What does everyone think about the TRex traps? Thanks.

Could be a number of things, winter causes a lot of snapped traps in outdoor trapping. The traps I use are victor rat traps, and use them for all rodents. I've tried the victor power trap but wasn't impressed, decided to stick with what was working. The rats that get smacked normally only make it a few feet/yards from the trap, sometimes making it back to its hole. Then again some are very fortunate, and get a second chance. Is the bait gone or left alone on the snapped traps? Personally I'd grind the bones into the pb or whatever bait you're using.

Thank you. Not sure on the bait on the snapped traps. This information is what I got from him on the phone. Picked up some Victor rat traps today and will do an inspection on Friday. I will have some KFC on my way back from helping my folks tomorrow. smile My hope is he will accept my bid and I can set right away on Friday. I wanted to be ready. Thanks again.

Scot
