If you spin the stake with a wrench or vicegrips. Then pull on the trap the normally will come right up. If that doesn't work use the pry bar.

I made mine from ½" round rod. It is about 20" long and the two ends are about 1 ½" long the T-bar handle is about 6" long. All it really does is give you a very good handle to pull on the stakes. I heat the rod to make the bends and it is important to make the one bend on the main rod less than 90 degrees so it actually points up a little. It is also important to be sure the T handle and the bends are oriented the same as the picture. That way you can swing it into the ground at the stake, it goes right under and makes pulling them very easy. Sometimes I have to hit the stakes down a little to break the frost then hook this under and they pull easy. ~ADC~

I use a gruben hoe I use the flat side for rebar and for cable stakes I put the point of the other side in the loop or quick link.

way too much effort here.......take another stake and drive it down about halfway right next to your original at the exact same angle... pull the second stake...grab the chain of the trap and give it a yank sideways toward the new hole, then yank back the other way and pull it right out with a steady straight up pull its thatttttttttttttttt easy
take me to where the blacktop ends.. then go further with me

Paul,,, That stake is a smooth one.I happen to have more rebar than smooth ones. But to tell you the truth I notice no differance in them . I suppose you are thinking they won't hold as well.Only fox here so they work well.
