Some jerk stole one if my traps and released animals from the other two this is the same location where the cool looking cat was

So I reset 3 traps and a trail camera. Not sure if video without a "your undervideo surveillance " will hold up in court but I want these people charged fully as possible.

If private property, trespass can be filed by the homeowner or owner.

I had a guy take a leak on a trap just a couple of months ago, thought it was the clients PCO company, but it turned out it
was a handyman she hired to fix a crawlspace entry...

Though the camera didn't get the "stream" the placement of the boots and then the dark color of the soil right over my live trap
made it clear what had happened....

Really fired me up, though in the end I let the homeowner deal with him (who was by the way an attorney, not a bright handyman....).

Best of luck, stolen traps are never fun...

That sucks.

I usually cable and lock my traps to an immoveable object. If nothing is handy I use cable stakes. It's a hassle but not as much as losing a trap.

Hope they don't take the camera next time.

Be a animal lover, very wealthy lake side properties. So didn't do it to sell it. The releasing of the animals ticks me off even more

Payback should be personal and I think nothing can express your emotions like a dead skunk.

Yep, if I get I in camera and the law won't do anything, well they are building themselves and new McMansion about 5 houses over. This info I got from my customer the day I set the traps.

But I really want to file charges hoping for theft charges not animal charges so it will be on their record. Will let you all know if anything more happens

Having a police report wrote up so if my trap ends up some where illegally set or something I at least have documentation. As well as if I get them on camera messing with new ones it may help.

I'm not from Michigan but I am pretty sure that the video but not the audio would be admissible in court. I would use a camera that transmits the picture in case thy steal your camera. If you don't have one I would put a second camera on my camera.

Sleep'n with an animal..I can help.

The camera evidence is admissible and fine because it's not filming someone without permission, they are in your property and you don't need permission. Just like a liquor store doesn't have to post it

Your not on your own property, your on a customers property. The only rights you have are what your signed contract with your customer outlines. Better to say the camera was set up to monitor the traps for animal refusal, and you just caught the person doing the deed. Could save you from more hassles, that take you away from jobs you can be doing. Of course you have the right to report stolen equipment.
Don't most contacts have stolen traps as customers responsibly, or is it cost of doing business and figured in your bid.

Why not just forget about it and move on? Why waste your time over a trap?

Yep...could be the first mistake if you didn't have a contract. THEN, the homeowner is out $$$ because of an AR....and they are more apt to help you recover your trap(s).

Read the whole post, they also released two animals from other traps. So if someone is taking away your income are you going to just forget about it. The trap was cheap but I don't want someone just charged for the release I want their record to include theft

Doesn't matter now anyway as I have caught all the red squirrels and had no further issues after camera was installed.

Just thought I should mention the fact that I bought some pretty decent padlocks from the Dollar Tree. ( I read an article that said

more people shop at dollar stores than shop at Walmart. And they dress better too. )

Might be local kids.

Although it might be, I wouldn't jump to blaming kids. They are likely to bother animals but in my experience so far it's adults who will really mess up your day
