Read everything you can find on moles to start with then start asking questions. Most guy on this site use two different traps, Victor Out of Site and Steve Albono (spelling?) trap. You get Steve's trap off his web site. Just google mole traps. He has a video on how to use them.

I'm not much of an ADC trapper if any at all but I do a few small mole jobs here and there and I've always used Steve Albano mole traps and they seem to work very good. I went and saw a demo once on mole trapping also and they said not to mark your traps with flags because the moles can feel the vibration of the flag through the ground and will go around the flag.

Here's a link to those traps too.

Steve Albano is in the Bay area, if y'all are close I'm sure he could find someone that is.

I have used some lawn staple to hold Steve's traps in place when people are going to have a party etc. in the yard, I have to paint the traps location. Maybe Steve will charm in about the flags and sound. But mole are use to many different sounds and vibration that are under the ground. We know a mole will follow are water line used for sprinkling your yard, there is all kinds of vibration etc from them. Who give the demo and what traps were used?

First thing is get a GOOD pair of knee pad, when mole trapping that is where you spend most of your time. I also have two screw drivers, one 8 inch and one 14 inch. You will be doing a lot of prodding for runs. I have the name of my Co. printed on my flags, they are white. I use different color flags.
White flags to mark the location of traps, if I catch a mole at that location I put a green flag in with the white flag. That let me know I have trapped one mole at that location. Two green flag mean two moles at that location. If you want to BS about mole trapping give me a call, I will PM you!

Getting There, The demo was a few years ago by someone from the middle of the state. I believe he was using victor mole traps. That does make sense why the flags would not effect their travel.

I have a hard time believing flagging or marking with a stake would effect mole travel. It's not like ya put the marking in their run.
