Any one have any information on this trap? It worth anything? I did not find it on E Bay I had it for years it came from and old Mackenzie Delta trading post. [img:center][/img] Some one took one of the springs off I think, probably destroyed the value? [img:right][/img] Not sure if I want to sell it just interested if it is valuable. if it is I may display it better. I was thinking of welding the jaws open and making a clock. Can't use it for trapping unless I grind off the teeth. Seems a shale to do that.

I wouldn't weld or grind either one. it has value. several hundred dollars even with one spring

It would be an absolute shame to weld or grind anything on that trap!!

That trap was made between 1888 and 1905 - well over a hundred years ago.

If it were an original double spring and depending on other certain features, it could be worth as much as $1,100.00.

The missing spring will reduce the vslue to $500.00 or so. With some work and some digging around, you should eventually be able to find another spring to put on that trap.

Bottom line - leave the trap alone - don't do any thing to it.

Thanks you guys I don not think I will dig around to find a spring I may go look for the garbage sump at Knute Lang camp though see if I can find the original spring. Maybe I will display it as is in my house. This trap has some serious teeth on it.

Nice looking trap. Sent you a Pm, I will have to check, but I may have a spring for you depending on the spring stamping on yours. Your trap is fine like it is and will display nicely for you.

here are some more pics that people were interested in seeing. My boy Samuel gave me a hand and we got it set. [img:center][/img]

Marking on the spring apparently very important. I have had a great time learning about this trap. I had no idea it was that old and rare. I also learned a lot about what to look for. Never had any interest before. Maybe I will buy a metal detector and go search around old delta camps next summer. [img:right][/img]
