I have a tree that starlings have roosted in for the last few weeks. It hangs over a couple self serve car vacuums that the birds are crapping all over. We have tried everything from Mylar tape, scare owls, air horn. I'm all out of ideas, due to town ordinance no bird bangs or nothing like that.
Is there any other ideas that could help get the birds to roost in another tree?

Thanks

What David said! Honestly if that is the tree they prefer and your other options for pyros are out, you are left with few options.

Rain, man made or otherwise will cause them to move due to thermal requirements. Have seen his used in dairy barns and other structures. Doesn't have to be much, enough to allow them to realize this roost will not keep them dry.

Just a thought outside of the removal.

You could also do a temporary awning to keep the "leavings" off the necessary area until they migrate on.

Does that include non-explosive noise makers? If not, you might want to try a “clapper board”; quick, cheap and easy to make, loud too. It is just two pieces of 1 X 4 or 2 X 4, two feet long and hinged together on one end. The protrusions on the outside of each piece are the handles for operating the tool. Pull the boards apart then slam them together.

Try it each evening as the starlings start arriving to roost. Starlings are persistent so you may have to keep it up for a few days to encourage the birds to seek another tree. If it doesn’t work, at least you tried it and haven’t lost much. Please let us know if you solve your problem.

Note to self- Engage brain before opening mouth (or hitting the ENTER key/SUBMIT button).

Be sure it's a permanent roost. Starlings will "stage" in large numbers in fall before disappearing.

How big is the tree? Had a similar situation at a restaurant. A large bird net draped over the entire tree worked, as the tree was only about 25 feet tall. Net installed using articulated boom lift. Removed after 4 weeks. Problem solved.

The "clapper boards" worked great. After a week of use the birds have moved to different trees.
Thanks for the ideas.
