Yesterday went to meet a new customer to do a flea job, first thing she said was, are you alright with dogs ?, i said no problem, i have 5, good she said, so we went into the house, then Wham!!!!! this flaming great thing is latched onto my arm, (rhodesian ridgeback * labrador) sunk his teeth right in, blood every where, she (the woman) hardly batted an eyelid, going to do the job on tuesday , just wondered how i could get the sh1t back, the dog i mean not the woman.
had to go to the docs and get it cleaned up and my tetanus had run out ,last injection 2001, so now both arms hurt,

...they are new managers of a big hotel... I might consider suing the owners of the hotel too.

Regardless of the social "status" of the owner, they are responsible for all costs relating to the dog bite (or cat, or any animal they "own"). It's one of the responsibilities of owning a pet. Same goes for a dog ripping trims off a vehicle, damaging property or whatever, the owner is responsible for costs. Plus, in most states it is mandatory to report EVERY animal bite to the public health department and sometimes local animal control.
I was attacked by a black lab (yes, they can be mean) while inspecting a home for a raccoon job. It punctured my leg several times, then attacked a young boy who was sitting at a picnic table nearby. Shredded his wrist really bad. The owners (next door neighbors) were informed both by police and animal control (both showed up at the scene) that they were responsible for all medical costs and any other expenses. An aggressive animal must be reported.
NOTE: I have no idea how your laws read. I'm simply sharing what is standard procedure here in the states.

Not hardly, people need some way to redress a wrong. Do you think he should just let it go? Why should he have to eat the medical bills, and possible loss of time on the job.

We are lucky here, no medical bills, national health, injurys not that bad, but i would hate to think it will do the same to someone else, just a couple of hours lost at work. I have 5 dogs and they have never bitten anybody, in fact i have kept working dogs for 40 years and never had one bite. but if i had it would end up under the sod.

Here in VT State it is a State law that any treatment given by a medical specialist, Doctor, or assistant,Nurse, Report all dog bites to the Health Officer in the Town that the dog bite took place. Even if it was your own dog that bit you. That is required to make sure the dog or animal has had its Rabies shots and they are up to date. The animal must be quarantined for ten days, can be done at the owners residence. If they do not wish to comply, the dog is taken and quarantined at a vets office or shelter at there expense. Paper work is filled and recorded at the Town Clerks Office. If the dog has not had its rabies shots as required by law, it can be euthanized, head amputated, and sent to the state health lab to be tested as required. Most Towns as well as States have Regulations that need to be followed. Dave

What Ron said, there are policies in every state that relate to dog bite cases. And it does NOT require a law suit. It's simply the law.

You guys are forgetting you are at work. ,,,,think of the mailman.lol,
What if that raccoon/ bat or Other creature bites you that is in their home,,,,,,who do you sue now?
I agree she should pay for your injury (not pain and suffering) if you are under insured????? (aka you can put state industrial insurance upon yourself for pennys on the dollar in most states)

Sorry lads , 6 hrs ahead of you over here,i have been a bit busy, Follow up on dog bite, went today to do Flea job, customer could not be more apologetic , she said they were insured if i wanted to do anything about it, but i am not going to bother. I won the contract for the pestcontrol on the hotel, so it may have been worth it in the end, as long as the dog is out of the way in future . Had a realy busy day today, i did a timber treatment, the famous flea job, a mole job on a school playing field, a norway rat job in a roof space and seven of the jobs that Paul doesnt like me talking about. I still have to go and sort some rabbits out yet with the dog and lamp so it is going to be a late one again.

My dog had a confrontation with a Lab and I offered and paid the bill for their Vet. ($1,200.00 ) I don't believe she started it, but she finished it. I wouldn't have sued, but they would pay my med bill if any balance. Every owner should be held accountable. Just like if your kid broke the neighbors window.
