Phone call on Father's Day.

Caller calls and asks if we will pick up their dog that has died. I reply I am sorry for their loss and that is a service we sometimes provide but I would need to schedule it for Monday.

Caller states that he is unwilling to wait so I expect the animal has been dead a while, thus my question, "when did your dog die?" Answer "two weeks ago". I'm thinking holy $#%^ there can't be anything left, so I ask "is it in the freezer?" He says nope, its in the ground, but my wife didn't bury it deep enough.

At this point the caller is starting to get short with me, especially when I tell him its Sunday, Fathers Day, and I am sure one more day won't make that much difference. I then ask him where he is located so I can give him an estimated price.

Now he comes UNGLUED asking what kind of person I am that I would charge him to take his poor dead dog!!!!!!

Turns out that I am the kind of person who leaves another persons poor dead dog buried in a shallow grave!!!!

Dirk, knowing that one of our morons has apparently left our state and moved to yours is a wonderful Father's Day present!

At least she could have called since it was Father's day and she did the digging.

Had a first for me - goats! A police officer ( who sounded like he was about 18 years old) from a local one-horse town asked me "Do you guys pick up goats?" Seems two does and a buck were out for a stroll and Officer Barney couldn't find the owner ( no collars, no tags). The call was pretty much over when I told him we'd charge for our services.

Dirk, I had a call like that once. It was winter time but the ground was not frozen. Their Golden Lab had died and they buried it in their back yard right by the property line. They didn't know they had cut a phone cable line until phone company showed up a few days later to find the problem with the phone line. The company gave them two days to remove the dog. They didn't have the heart to do it.

Kinda sad though. I can understand their feelings. BUT: If you can't do it yourself, you gotta pay somebody else.

As far as the Goats, What's the law on that Dave? You pick up and then what? You're not HSUS/PETA or the locla HS. Are they your's to sell, Goat roast??

Dave, as long as the biggest news networks were along for filming, there would be no charge. ( And as long as that police department gave out our number, forever )

I personally would have invited every one of our technicians to this rodeo and filmed them as they fell. ( And then I would have stepped up to the plate and showed them why I am still the Master! )

P.S. Win, lose, or draw, that does sound like more fun than a man should have.

Black woman calls me early one morning wanting to know when I can come get the dead cat out on the road by her house...
I inform her that there would be a charge and ask her if she would be that person to pay for it?
That's when she started cursing and used the N word...
