I get my share on 'snake calls' but, I had an interesting one the other day that involved 'lizards'... There are only a few lizards in the state where I live and it is rare people actually see them. We even have one imported from Italy that has taken up in the Cincinnati area, the European wall lizard. This may be one of those although it doesn't look like the picture given in the booklet on reptiles and amphibians supplied by the ODNR. That said, here's a picture of one tonight and maybe someone on here can help me identify it. It has bright blue spots down the side and seems to be about 5-6" in length as an adult. The 'blue spots' may be for mating purposes or as a display of aggression, not sure. The lizards are caught by using a special designed wooden box with several holes through it. Inside the lizard is captured on a 'glue pad' , out of the sun and harms way. It is not injured and is easily set free by pouring vegetable oil over the reptile, which dissolves the glue, allowing the lizard to wiggle free... LT

A view of the box,( at lease as a lizard sees it). A hole on either side allows the lizard a clear view through it. Insects often get stuck on the glue trap too, making the lure to enter the box even greater. I'm putting on together for black rat snakes, although it will be much larger.
