Can anyone tell me how many roots on average are in a dry pound of bloodroot,blackcohosh,and goldenseal.

stanley, thats a very tough question to answer.

you have diffrent factors that affect weight.....size of roots, were the plant grew, time of year dug...etc.

I could tell you more about Ginseng than the off roots. They come in[ the DNR} and weight seng each year and count the number of roots per pound on the stuff I buy. They usually sample 3 lbs. give or take a lb. They won't count my personal dug root because thay say it don't give a good idea on average size. They counted my personal stuff a couple times and the was getting 75 roots to 140 roots per lb. average. The stuff I buy runs from 280 to 375 roots to a dry pound.

So I will need to find +/-200 ginseng plants to get a pound?


don't worry over the smart ones. catch the dumb ones, they pay the same.

i can do it because i dont know that i cant.
