The same can be said of almost everything. My wife screwed up the spaghetti noodles and I couldn't eat it, and yet she's made pheasant that was delectable! Now a decent meal of pheasant is ten times harder to make, so go figure.

In my area you can take a buck and 2 does. Thats what comes with the license. This year we a herd control area, so extra doe tags are 3 bucks each.

I wonder how much they charge the wolves for all the deer they take?

First night here of season .yes firearm comes first. We can take 5 deer each I'm told and two bucks at 15.00 a tag , stopped to buy tags and Ken that owns KD outdoors had this sad puppy dog look he needs to hunt so we brought him out with us .
My kids gun its a single shot 20 with rifled barrel . Shoots them light fields
My setup rem 1187 with a hastings barrel nikon 3x9 shooting win 2000 fps 12 ga sabot slugs . This hurts bad when fired at target but really has been a great gun for Deer and bear . Looks beat up but still works well out to 200 yrds . We should get a shot at something and can taste them fresh straps on the grill

Wow, when i lived in mi it was one buck only, and there was a stigma about taking does

here in va its 5 one my side of the mts and 6 on the other and you have to take does to take a buck in some areas its like bumper cars driving these mt roads going to work deer here really looked on as pests by anyone trying to grow a garden or keep your car in one piece

there is close to one mil deer in va its not a large state

Boy, have things changed. I think you can get up to 7 now. Too many people playing video games or typing on trapperman.

Got a whole bunch of new rules coming next year . The oldest boy had two young deer at 20 yards but let them walk . Not much shooting going on and only Hurd 6 shots right at dark 30 . The deer Hurd is way down on the farm land areas . 6 shots for the youth and doe opener isnt very good .

Talked to large land owner tonight that farms 2.800 acres and claims to have no crop damage and has offered to buy all the snares and all if I'll come out come jan and nock the silly out of the coyote . Claims to be seeing coyote taking down deer right out in the open field . The farmer is a muck farmer that grows carrots , lettuce , reddish and stuff like that . He also likes to hunt deer and blaims the lows in deer on coyote infestation . He's also talking to other farmers about getting in there lands as well .

Im not sure if it's the coyote or all these doe hunts and tags handed out but it's a fare cry from just a few years ago . Are turkey is way down as well . Pheasants I haven't seen or herd one this year . This would all point at coyote . They are thick

Insurance companys told the DNR to lower the population or face law suite . Coyote population seems higher than ever . . I've only taken one large ten point buck in farm country the rest I've taken down in the city around Waterford area with the largest a 155" 8 point . That area there we went two years without a fawn being seen so I nocked the coyote back and we started seeing fawns again .

I setup a bait station of deer scraps from the deer prosesing places around . Once we got snow I set the trails leading into and got every single one of them . Took a 57 lbs coyote and 22 coyote all together from the Waterford area . I didn't even see a coyote track the next year but see now there moving back in

If I were a gecko, I would just raise rates to reflect the risk.

The insurance companies were given the chance to give their input on deer harvest rates in NY. They pretty much said, "We don't care how many accidents there are. We'll just raise rates accordingly." Good on the companies in your state.
