Get them at a medical clinic here. Cost about $300 for 3 shots.

A lot cheaper than what I thought.. How long are they good for after you get them?

Cat, in Greenbrier county, no doctor would administer them to me. I checked physicians, even Greenbrier Valley Medical Center (the hospital). They sent me to the center for disease control, who kindly informed me that it was going to run me 200 dollars PER SHOT, and that they did not bill insurances.
All it took for me to get it in MA was to visit my Primary Care physician who was also the doctor on call for infectious disease and she gave me the info on what I would be risking taking the series. Typical side effects lecture. Once I signed the release, she gave me my first dose and it was covered 100 percent by my insurance as an innoculation. The two to follow were given by nurses, after I signed the release document, also covered by insurance.
Good luck in WV though.
Editted to add: They're good for 2 years, after which time you get a titer to see if you need a booster or not.

First serie's i took made me real tired and sleepy all the time, was rough going. Had to have a booster 2 year's ago after titer check but no booster was needed this year after having titer check. So i imagine they last 2-3 years from that. They won't say it but pretty much if you ever get these shot's it'll be real difficult to ever get rabies.

ty Jtrapper...im worried around here cause the racoon seem to have rabies at times and thats what seems my son and i catch the most of...itd be well worth the investment in my mind, especially if you look at it as an investment over time...the peace of mind alone would be worth the cost, ive had a couple that tried to take me on and if i had gotten bit, i would have worried myself sick over it

My main worry isn't gettin bit. But, cutting myself while skinnin one out. Or getting infected salava or blood in an unnoticed scratch on my hand or arms. I wear gloves whenever I handle an animal, but, you never know. I wonder how long the virus can live on a pelt?
