DROPPINGS, I don't know about you but since we're having more rat calls this year, I find this to be a really valuable bunch of answers.

Might try a rat size weasel box. Square wood tube, holes on each end, bait in the middle, with #1's under the holes.

What brand of rat poison are you using? It could be that the attractant isn't very good, this makes a huge difference with some rats. If none have ever eaten it I wouldn't think that they would be suspicious of it. I use Fastrac Blox. It has a single feeding kill that is fairly quick, have had great results.

Also, blox are formed to be anchored in a station but you can also wire them to other things where the dog can't get to them if its the station that they are avoiding. I like to wire them to the back legs of stove, fridge, washer, dryer, under sink lines, anywhere they are normally finding food or water. Main thing is that the rats have to eat it there and not run off and cache it in another spot.

so i made a grusom trap. its a 2x4 with a hinge screwed to the floor and a pull sting release to drop the lumber on the poor sucker. it is located between the wall and the dryer. mounted a camera above. hopefully kill from the couch. wish me luck .lol

If these smart rats will not come to the bait then if you can find trails i would blind set with small dbl springs. And I like the thought of shooting them but then again I just like to shoot. where can i find a sensitive enough double sping trap? would that be a mole type of trap? or could i find it at a gun/hunting store?

I have some old Victor number 0 single longs, sorry in my post I said dbl but they may not trip the pan but they do on my old single spring number 0. Sorry for the confusion.

Have not tried it myself, but I have heard of placing LYE in the runways. It gets on their feet and when they lick it off, it thins their blood to where they don't get enough oxygen to survive. Problem is the bodies are left where they drop.
When I was a kid, we would close off all but a couple holes under the hog sheds and stuff a garden hose into one. Flood the tunnels and clubbed them when they tried to leave the open holes. If they are under the house, in the crawl space, this probably wouldn't work too well.
