Someone on here mentioned a roof calk or patching liquid that they use on gauntlets to repair???

Any great ideas for re coating the rubber gloves to make them last longer???

There used to be a product called "Rubberize-It". It was for dipping tools and things like that. Not sure if it would work or if it is still on the market.

It's still on the market. I buy it by the gallon. However, I do not believe that it would make a good patching material.

A couple of folks have talked about a product called AquaSeal that they swear by instead of swearing at. I would be interested in trying this stuff, but cannot locate a source for it. Can any of y'all tell me where to buy it.

Adios,
45/70

I have been useing a product called Goop. It lasts well for 2 days then begins to peel. I just keep repatching. We will see what happens. I am not to satisfied with it.

45/70 I visited Bass Pro the other day and they had Aquaseal it was a 2 part product. One was a catalyst in a nail polish like container, the other was the product in a tube. It was about 10.00. Then I came home and looked in the Cabela's catalog and they also had Aquaseal but it was in a tube and didn't show the catalist it was either 6.00 or 7.00. I don't know if it was the same stuff or maybe the one with the catalyst was just a little faster acting? I bought some shoe goo the other day and tried a little on a old pair of boots and it seemed to dry hard so it might tend to peel off also.

NP1. It's a polyurethane based caulk that sticks to anything and lasts forever. Got some on my wader boots sealing up a couple big splits at bending places right now with no more leaks. Get it on our skin and it's there untill the skin wears off.

I use to use duct tape, But found gorilla tape works well for gloves and boots. I also use hot patches. These are tire patches that have to be use with a hot patch clamp. Rip a hole in the ankle of a pair of brand new boots. Stuck a hot patch on, and covered with a piece of gorilla tape. So far no wet feet!!! \:\)

NP1 is also what I use. I think I posted this on the old site about a month ago. I got a little too close to an otter and before I knew it, I had an otter mouth sized hole in my lacrosse boots and also one in my sock right over my big toe. I'm glad their teeth aren't longer...

I couldn't find the piece of boot it ripped off. It must have been in his stomach, but I forgot to cut it open to look after I skinned it.

So, I took a piece of window screen and smeared NP1 on it and placed it on the inside of my boot over the hole and then spead NP1 over the outside to patch it up. It worked like a charm and it has not peeled.

NP1 is great stuff! I've repaired plenty of things with it. I glued a medallion back onto a leather belt after the rivet popped just last week. Good stuff and flexible.

WalkinTall, are NP1 and AquaSeal the same thing?
Other than BassPro and Cablelas, where else would you looking for it - any trapping supply dealers that you are aware of?

The Rubberize It and similar products can be used on fabric, but I don't believe it will make a good patch. However, you can dip the fingers of fabric gloves, and have a good gripping surface.

Adios,

NP1 is not the same as AquaSeal. It is most commonly used for roofing and masonry repairs. I have never used it, but I think I'm going to try it on some of my leaking footwear. It's also availble it several colors.

I buy NP1 locally at a construction outfit. I've not been able to find it anywhere else...including lumber yards or hardware stores.

I have found it online before...says it's a high performance exterior caulk. This was a roofing supply site.
