some coon pics

#11 at an old mink tunnel i put in a few years back

Another at the same spot

DP traps are quick and simple, however paintjobs dont last long

Nothing is sacred to these guys... even dog proofs

This one was one slushy day

This was a hawg!! caught underneath a concrete bridge

This was an odd double, live trap and dp but im not complaining

Early morning checks! crazy This one scared the crap out of me hiding in the weeds up on the bank

Another hawg in the night

One mornings catch, may not be alot but im proud of all the hardwork i have sitting there!!

This one was first of the 2010-11 season

Gotta love pocket sets, full of burs and frozen what a combo

Thanks for looking and sharing some of last years memories grin cme

I've had doubles like that where a live trap and Duke were set. The Combo of the two works pretty well. The Cage coon attracts more coon into the area and they start hunting up the bait or lure that is used.

I guess so, i didnt plan it out but i was double setting around that field and ran out of dps, sure a dirthole would have worked but the cage was so much faster. You are really robbing yourself by not setting doubles!! cme

Coon are hard to specifically target, you can set dog proofs if you want to catch only coon. However my most commonly used set is a simple pocket into the bank with a 1.5 or 11 guarding it, fish type bait work well, this set will also catch lingering mink and occasional muskrats, hope that helped a little wink cme

I've never found 'coon that "hard to specifically target." quite the opposite, really!

Coon caught perfect with 160. It's not me in the pic, but I can't resist the nice catch pics.

I put my mind to it all the time for trapping and get good number of coons. I don't get my Dad's respect though. He looks down on me "wasting" my time trapping.

i'd like to use those fishsticks, but here in PA i've got to have all bait covered from the air. I'm sure they would work just as a pvc elbow set, but less likely to be seen by trap theives...

Great thread guys and gals

very useful. I trap up in Ontario and use alot of boxes and since last year Dp traps. As I was reading I really got interested in the blind trail set. How are you people setting your traps in the trail. Are you keeping them off the ground a few inches and if you are how are you doing it. I just ordered a few videos from FNT including the one mentioned by Ron HAUSER but still waiting for it to come in. Any help would be appreciated.
