I know I don't post often but my internet trap line that I dream up doesn't even produce. After hitting the villages in SE for a while, time to bring the Aurora back to Prince William Sound. We were supposed to leave this past weekend, but the forecast was really really bad. Making a run for it in the morning, hopefully without a stop in Yakutat. Who knows though, the weather guessers have been wrong before. Yar Har!

That's nice spring weather. You oughta try it on a little boat, while overloading 'er with fish, that's when things get interesting. Trunew, thanks for filling in for the LeConte, we appreciated it.

Herring? If so how did the price compare to last year given the situation in Japan?

Black cod, halibut. Price is high.
Here's the type weather I like to be in the Gulf for fishing. That's the St. Elias Mtns and Malaspina Glacier, west of Yakutat.

I certainly wouldn't try this on one of "those" days. This is off Lituya Bay.

Herring prices are a funny thing. Usually an "advance" price is posted, a fraction of the final. But often fishermen don't know the final price for many months, after the product is sold. Not unusual to get a check a year after fishing. Heard $300 a ton starting this year, considerably less than half of last year.

FT I don't usually take pictures of sets but I do have a couple:

Kill in background. 15 more snares in brush behind kill. Too late, no action.

Same 2 snares as above. Look at that trail/pee! I think I will reset this next season just in case they swing back by.

Avalanche-killed goat that wolverine had been feeding on. This was challenging it was in a travelled area and nothing good to anchor too, exposed to snow, lost in next avalanche etc.

280 set at base of cottonwood stump. No go. Had pretty high hopes for this set but there are fewer wolverine in this area now due to loss of moose population to brown bears, and so no wolf kills which used to bring the wolverine in.

Decent size 97lbs. I'm doing the stand way back thing for max affect.

Very nice. I really like seeing the snare picts. What did you do for anchor. Did you tie off to that mess of alders on the right with the one? Curious as that is the type of options I would be faced with if and when I go after wolves. Didn't know if it would be better to go with a drag or tie off to he base including a number of the small trees.
